Export of Russian higher education: features of formation and structuring of demand

On February 9 Nefedova A.I. took part in the "Culture matters" research seminar with the report on "Export of Russian higher education: features of formation and structuring of demand".


The report presented the results of studying the demand for Russian higher education on the international market. The empirical basis of the study was the in-depth interviews with foreign students from both the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries and the far abroad, as well as the survey results with applicants from CIS countries. The reasons for the choice of Russian education by foreign students studying at both the Bachelor's and Master's levels in leading Russian universities were analyzed. The influence of the state in shaping the demand for Russian higher education abroad was shown. On the example of three universities participating in the "5-100" project, various strategies for promoting educational services to the international market were shown.
