Geography lies at the centre of the study of global changes in the natural environment and spatial shifts in society and economics that affect people in all corners of the planet.

The department aims to create a centre of educational, research and project competencies in the field of global environmental and climate change, geoinformation technologies and spatial data management, public geography and spatial modelling.

The Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences is the department’s main partner.
