HSE Makes World’s Top-300 Best Universities List in Management and Social Sciences
In the annual QS World University Rankings published on September 16, the Higher School of Economics maintained its overall position in the 501-550 group, while placing 232nd in the ‘Management and Social Sciences’ category.
The international QS ranking includes universities that offer disciplines from at least two different subject fields.
The overall ranking methodology has gone practically unchanged over the last 10 years and is based on six main criteria: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international student ratio, and international staff ratio. HSE still remains in the 501-550 category of the ranking.
The subject-based rating methodology for the ‘Management and Social Sciences’ category has been updated considerably this year based on the recommendations of the expert community. In particular, the results of an anonymous survey of employers are now taken into account when calculating the achievements of a university in the subject area. The survey concerns employers’ satisfaction level with how well alumni are prepared. This figure was very high for the HSE – 81.5 out of 100 possible points, and the university placed 232 overall in the world for ‘Management and Social Sciences.’
This year’s overall ranking consisted of 863 schools, including 21 Russian universities, three more than in 2013.
