Alexander Shokhin and Evgeny Yasin Reappointed as HSE President and Academic Supervisor
Alexander Shokhin and Evgeny Yasin were reelected for another five-year term by the members of the HSE Academic Council.
Evgeny Yasin has held the position of HSE Academic Supervisor since the university’s founding. He supervises the HSE Academic Fund Programme, participates in the creation of HSE development programmes, represents the university in the academic community, and organizes major academic events. The HSE April Research Conference on Economic and Social Development, which he chaired, was held for the 20th time this year.
Alexander Shokhin has been HSE President since 1995, and he also heads HSE’s Department of the Theory and Practice of Business-Government Interaction. According to the HSE Charter, the president participates in the Board of Trustees and the Supervisory Council, participates in creating the University’s Development Programme, and represents the University in relations with governmental bodies. The president also heads the Presidium of the HSE Endowment Fund: recently HSE’s endowment became one of the largest among those of leading Russian universities. The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs headed by Alexander Shokhin took part in launching the ‘I Am a Professional’ Olympiad, the winners of which now receive benefits when applying for master's programmes of leading universities, including HSE.

HSE University is famous for not only its various locations throughout Moscow, but also its regional campuses in three other major Russian cities. HSE to Open Department of Geography and Geoinformatics Technology
The department is being created in collaboration with the Institute of Geography at the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and will focus on problems of geoinformatics, climate change and socio-economic development. The department’s first educational programme in geography at HSE may open in 2020.
HSE to Adopt a New Development Programme
On March 20, at the HSE Staff and Student Conference, HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov presented the key points of the new Development Programme for the period extending to 2030.
