Student Council Discusses Issues Faced by International Students
In early October, members of the Moscow HSE's Student Council met with the University's Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov.
The issues raised included problems faced by international students at the HSE. Student Council member Maria Alexeenko highlighted the lack of English-speaking staff at University dormitories. It was suggested that 'buddies' are given student accommodation near international students.
The decision was made to develop a way for the Moscow HSE Student Council to help build communication pathways between international students and staff in student halls of residence and to ensure a minimum quota for English-speaking staff in dormitories that will house international students who do not speak Russian.
HSE Vice Rector Sergei Erofeev said it would make sense to include an international student representative in the Student Council, and it was decided that the necessary steps would be taken for this to be possible.
Based on the official minutes of the meeting, as recorded by the HSE secretary.
